Community Music
healing music for well-being
Faradena works in the community, playing healing music for well-being. She specialises in working with people who have brain injuries, dementia, learning differences, challenging behaviour and complex needs. She has been working as a community musician since 2006 and is a member of Sound Sense: the community musicians governing body. She works with adults and children.
Faradena focusses on creating friendly, inclusive, healing spaces for musical enjoyment. Typically, the sessions are interactive, stimulating and enjoyable. They use field recorded nature sounds, with the attendees playing or singing. They can also be more passive healing sessions, using Reiki and health Qigong. The music depends on the needs of the listener. Most of the sessions she is currently running are for small groups of up to six people, but she can also work on a one-to-one basis and with larger groups.
Faradena has recently been developing her skills in helping adults with dementia. By working with them one-to- one she has had some success in improving their ability to converse and socialise. There have been improved feelings of well-being through using combinations of conversation, reminiscence, field recordings, Reiki and soaking music (healing music) with instruments and voice. The results have been encouraging, with a noticeable difference of mood and engagement between the start and end of the sessions.
Charges are £60 per hour for a one-off session excluding travel, or £50 for regular sessions. She has an enhanced DBS and full insurance.
